ABOUT THE COLONY

Meeting Night: Mondays.

Fees: £30 per term.

We would kindly ask that all fees are paid at the start of each term.

Beaver Scout's are the youngest section in the Scout Association and are aged 6 – 8 years old, both boys and girls can join. The Beaver Scout's meet in Colonies of between 12 to 24.

Beaver Scout's have lots of fun doing different activities which include making things, going on visits, making friends, doing badges and maybe going away for a night on a sleepover.You can visit the Beaver page at the Scout Associations offical site at the following link Beavers website

Some typical Beaver activities include:-

• Working towards earning "Badges" • Play lots of Games
• Visit the local Fire Station • Do a sponsored walk
• Go on an Activity Day • Go on a Nature Trail or Treasure Hunt
• Make things out of just about anything! • Invite someone from the community for a talk
• Walk in a Parade • Trip to a local Country Park
• Sing, chat, laugh, draw, paint... • Act out an 'Imagination' Evening
• Hold a sleepover • Making friends!

We aim to provide a balanced program of activities that are fun and challenging for the Beaver's. Activities are designed to allow them to try new things, meet new people, make new friends, learn about themselves and others and the world around them, have fun and play games. Beaver's enjoy trying new skills which help them develop physically, mentally and socially.

Beavers investiture

“Investiture”

When Beaver Scout's start, they learn about the basic history of scouting and the Beaver Scout Promise:

I Promise to do my best,
To be kind and helpful,
And to love my God.

After a few weeks they will take part in a small investiture ceremony where they'll officially become members of the Beaver Colony and and the worldwide Scout movement.

Beavers visit

“Visit to Chorley Fire Station”

The Beavers enjoyed a visited to Chorley fire Station where they got to see the fire engines and use the fire hoses.


Beaver badge

“Badges”

In Scouting there are lots of badges that the children can earn by doing various activities. There are 6 Challenge badges for the Beavers to work towards earning:-

• Promise • Fitness
• Friendship • Outdoor
• Creative • Global

There are also 12 Activity badges they can do as well as 6 staged Activity badges. The staged activity badges can be started as Beavers and can then be built on in Cub's and Scout's. Full details of all the badges can be found at Badges
